One of the best shot I've taken during an intense safari in Serengeti, Tanzania, where I've seen an outstanding quantity and variety of wildlife.

I tend to agree with the position of this Polar Be I tend to agree with the position of this Polar Bear on the @wwf controversy with the Guardian.

WWF stated that 300-400 polar bears killed annually for the fur trade does not affect the long term survival of the species, so that is totally fine.

I would say that if you are one of those polar bears it is not so fine, and I agree with the opinion clearly stated by the polar bear in this shit...sorry, shot.

Standing in the rain watching this walrus colony h Standing in the rain watching this walrus colony has been one of the best experiences of my cruise in Svalbard.
I was alone for most of the morning standing in my spot and observing, it could not get more surrounded by nature and wildlife!
Thanks @oceanwideexp for this!

Walrus Family Portrait Walruses are often found in Walrus Family Portrait
Walruses are often found in colony, and while cruising in Svalbard with our zodiac, I had the luck to spend some time observing and photographing them while they were enjoying the sun. It particularly caught my attention this frame of few adults surrounding and protecting a couple of pups, giving me the opportunity of this family portrait.

This was an heartbreaking sight in Svalbard: from This was an heartbreaking sight in Svalbard: from vert far away (more than 2km) we spotted a skinny and hungry polar bear, stranded on a steep cliff of a tiny island. He was eating grass, probably trying to fill it's empty stomach with something.
Observing nature and wildlife means also witnessing this kind of scenes, which hopefully make us understand how fragile our planet is, especially the Arctic.

Object of desire While walking next to a bird col Object of desire

While walking next to a bird colony in Svalbard, we encountered a Polar Fox looking for some breakfast, roaming around the colony for eggs, fallen chicks or some dropped fishes.

Its focus on the birds allowed me to stay in its company for a while, without disturbing its endeavors. I was trying to capture the moment of the predators looking at its prey, and that’s what I shot in this frame, with the fox intensively staring at a couple of gulls, apparently very relaxed and ignoring its hungry look.

Probably my best shot of an Arctic Fox, with an interesting storytelling!

Pyramiden is an abandoned ghost town in Svalbard, Pyramiden is an abandoned ghost town in Svalbard, and still a russian territory in the norwegian archipelago.
Founded in 1910 by swedish miners and bought by russia in 1927, in the decades between the 60s and the 80s represented the glory and the utopia of a fully functioning communism society, in the extreme conditions of the arctic, with more than 2,000 people living there
Its economy was based on coal mining - like all Svalbard - and the support from the soviet regime, it saw its decline after the fall of the soviet union in early 90s.
Abandoned completely at the beginning of 2000, it is now an open air museum of soviet art and architecture, and also the northernmost ghost town in the world.
Music: Катюша / Katyusha, a traditional soviet song composed in 1938.

Encountering a polar bear on the ice pack of Svalb Encountering a polar bear on the ice pack of Svalbard has been one of the best experience of my life, something I've dreamed of for years.
We've spotted this fat bear eating a freshly killed prey - probably a seal - and enjoying that with no hurry. After that he started to roam around the ice pack, stopping once in a while for a nap.
The video is quite shaky as it was shot from around 2km of distance from our expedition boat, plus the light reflection of the ice. I took these videos among few thousands of photos!
Filmed using my Sony A7RIII with Some FE 600mm f4 and 1.5x teleconverter.
An emotion I will never forget!!

It is not what it looks like! Polar bears are alwa It is not what it looks like!
Polar bears are always looking for food and in Svalbard they are not afraid to enter cabins looking for snacks.
While cruising on a Zodiac, we caught this well-fed female bear poking around this cabin, looking for a way in: I’ve waited for the right moment and after a while she become aware of our presence, and looked at me… like a burglar caught during its robbery, but in a very elegant and feminine pose!

The bowhead whale was driven almost to extinction The bowhead whale was driven almost to extinction by whale hunting, due to its slowness and huge quantity of blubber.
This is a rare sight in the Arctic, where populations was almost decimated.
It is said to be the longest living whale, that can live up to 200 years old.
